Mirzapur was one of the first blockbusters in the Indian OTT arena. Its sequel Mirzapur 2 also did very well. After the wait of four long years, Mirzapur 3 has premiered on Amazon Prime.
Mirzapur season 3 continues the saga of violence and power struggles in a city ruled by the Tripathi family.
Akhandanand and Munna Tripathi dominate the throne, while the Pandit brothers, Bablu and Guddu, initially support them. However, their paths diverge, leading to a bloody conflict for control.
The new season picks up from where the last one ended, focusing on who will ultimately rule Mirzapur.
Despite the anticipation, Mirzapur 3 feels like a filler season. Across ten episodes, the plot doesn’t progress significantly.
The characters remain largely unchanged: Munna Tripathi is still dead, Kaleen Bhaiya is recovering, Guddu Pandit struggles with his violent tendencies, the women subtly manipulate events, and the political games continue.
The lack of excitement and clear direction is disappointing, especially after a nearly four-year wait. The show progresses more out of necessity than creativity, rehashing old themes instead of introducing new ones.
The performances are strong, with Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit and Shweta Tripathi as Golu standing out.
Overall, Mirzapur 3 is an average decent watch. It has its merits, particularly in its intriguing characters and their interactions, but lacks the thrill of the first two seasons.
The first season was excellent, the second was good, and the third is just okay. As expected, Munna Bhaiya’s absence hurts the series a lot.
However, Mirzapur season 3 ends on a high note. The climax delivers poetic justice which leaves viewers eager for the next season.
