Mahesh Babu’s decision to skip the pre-release event of Srinivasa Mangapuram, which marks the acting debut of his nephew Jayakrishna Ghattamaneni, has become a major talking point on social media.
Although Mahesh extended his support through a special video message, a section of fans believes his physical presence would have meant much more for Jayakrishna’s big day.
Jayakrishna is the son of Mahesh Babu’s late elder brother, Ramesh Babu. Many fans naturally expected Mahesh to stand beside his nephew on one of the most important days of his career.
A section of social media users feels that a nephew’s debut is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion and Mahesh’s physical presence would have carried far greater emotional value than a recorded message.
Many also argued that, after the passing of Krishna and Ramesh Babu, Mahesh has naturally become the father figure in the Ghattamaneni family. If Krishna or Ramesh Babu were alive today, they would have stood beside Jayakrishna on his debut day. They felt Mahesh’s presence would have been the right gesture.
Earlier, reports suggested Mahesh was unable to attend because of his Varanasi shooting schedule and commitments related to the film. However, that explanation has not convinced everyone. Many fans believe Mahesh could have taken out a couple of hours to support his late brother’s son’s acting debut.
Some feel his absence has only fueled unnecessary speculation that not everything is well within the Ghattamaneni family. They also believe that, if nothing else, attending the event for a few minutes for the sake of family and public optics would have avoided the debate now surrounding his absence.
