Ram Charan fans may have to wait longer than expected for his next film.
According to the latest industry buzz, RC17, directed by Sukumar, is taking more time than originally planned. While the film was expected to go on floors by the end of this year, reports now suggest it may begin shooting only in 2027. Its release is also being planned for the second half of 2028.
If that happens, it will have a big impact on Ram Charan‘s release schedule. With Peddi already released, there may not be another Ram Charan film in theatres for the next 20-24 months.
This has also raised an important question among fans. After RRR, Game Changer took nearly three years to release, and Peddi took around two years. Many expected RC17 to be completed much faster.
But Sukumar is known for taking his time. Pushpa series took nearly five years of Allu Arjun’s career. That gamble paid off brilliantly, but not every star can afford such long gaps between films.
After RRR, many expected Ram Charan to build on his pan-India popularity with regular releases. Instead, the long gaps have slowed that momentum. To make matters worse, Game Changer turned out to be a huge disappointment. Peddi also received a mixed response and did not fully satisfy audiences. Even Ram Charan’s extended cameo in Acharya was poorly received.
That means that in the last six years, apart from RRR, Ram Charan has not delivered a true-blue blockbuster. If RC17 really releases only in 2028, he may end up having just one or two more releases before this decade ends. For a top-tier star, that is not an ideal situation. Big stars are expected not only to deliver successful films but also to keep the industry moving with regular releases.
Reports say RC17 will be a stylish action entertainer and is expected to feature Sukumar‘s trademark writing and give Ram Charan a role with plenty of scope to perform.
If these reports are true, Ram Charan’s next appearance on the big screen could still be almost two years away. For one of Telugu cinema’s biggest stars, that is a very long time to stay away from theatres.
