Bollywood Experiencing Box Office Blues With BMCM

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan

After the staggering success of Bollywood movies in 2023, everyone had high hopes for movies in 2024. And with a lineup like Fighter, Shaitan, Merry Christmas, and Teri Baaton Me Aisa Uljha Jiya, fans anticipated that the glorious days of Bollywood were back after Covid. But it seems that not every year is going to be like 2024.

With April coming to an end, we have seen that movies like Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan, underperformed despite receiving good reviews. Even Merry Christmas flopped, which had built huge hype among fans. Now, people had high hopes for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. But its promotional campaign painted a different picture.

The movie was simply bad in every possible way, and it showed no signs of receiving the audience reception expected from a movie with a 350 crore budget. After 8 days of its release, the movie has collected a little over 50 crores, and with that, forget about becoming a hit; its budget recovery seems far-fetched. Box office analysts are describing the movie as one of the biggest flops in Bollywood.

It has come at such a time when both leads are suffering through a long series of flops. We must remember that her is the same guy who came up with “Sooryavanshi” as lightning in a bottle when Indian box office was experiencing it’s darkest days after Covid. Who thought that the same person will have a consecutive 10 flops after that. It has also proved the notion that Akshay seriously needs to work on his script choices and reinvent himself if he wants to regain his lost charm.
