Camila Mendes, well known for her role as the famous Veronica Lodge on the CW series Riverdale, takes on a new persona in the most recent romantic comedy, Upgraded. Mendes stars in the Prime Video film as Ana Santos, an ambitious assistant in the difficult art market who works for powerful gallery owner Claire Dupont, masterfully played by Marisa Tomei.
Ana’s everyday life takes an amazing turn when she is dispatched on a major company trip to London. During her sumptuous first-class journey, Jane meets Will, an English bachelor created for life by Archie Renaux. In a twist of destiny, Ana chooses to act like her boss, the company’s director, which results in a sequence of fortunate events and VIP introductions. However, this lie proved to be a dual-edged blade, threatening both her profession and her newfound romance.
The release of ‘Upgraded’ represents a big milestone in Mendes’ career, after the completion of her seven-season run on ‘Riverdale.’ Mendes not only plays the protagonist, but she also serves as the executive producer. The film presents a new story, allowing Mendes to showcase her acting abilities outside Riverdale High.
The cast includes Thomas Kretschmann, Gregory Montel, Aimee Carrero, Andrew Schulz, Rachel Matthews, Lena Olin, and Saoirse-Monica Jackson. Each performer gives an engaging performance that adds levels of intricacy to the story, making ‘Upgraded’ a must-see for romantic comedy enthusiasts.
