There have been some recent glitches with the Netflix auto-pay system that has frustrated users of the platform a great deal. The huge user base that it has created in India is witnessing some breaches in between.
On the other hand, Jio Hotstar is growing at an enormous speed. It has its problems indeed and people complain about its sports streaming or lazy content slate every now and then, but the platform’s growth is extraordinary.
Fans are feeling like Jio Hotstar is very close to replacing what Netflix used to be. It is not a platform with only one bland segment. It has the Disney content, the HBO, Paramount and Peacock content.
Mukesh Ambani’s Jio has brought almost all the biggies except from Prime and Netflix under one roof and there is IPL as well.
IPL has brought huge views to the platform and it has given a huge benefit to Jio Hotstar. On the other hand, Prime Video is still dealing with add-on subscriptions and rental movies, which is letting down its reputation in the OTT market.
If Jio Hotstar can utilise this opportunity, it will soon be a big deal and create a monopoly here in India.
