Recently, Prakasam police have cautioned the public against using sketchy third-party apps which will allow you to access TV shows, movies, and other content at a very cheap rate.
After downloading the app, as usual, it will ask for multiple permissions to access the device and once you allow them to do so, the game is over. This is how a number of people are getting defrauded by criminals.
Multiple cases of fraud and cyber crimes have been reported in the district and the Prakasam SP Malika Garg had to Make a statement for the people. Garg asked the people not to get carried away too much by the tempting free subscription or streaming of OTT content.
Garg also added that if someone observes any apps or websites like this, they should immediately contact the cyber crime department. Dialing 1930 or visiting the cybercrime reporting portal, www.cybercrime.gov.in will help you register your complaint.
