The Telangana government has carried out a major reshuffle of senior IAS officers. The changes include the transfer of Jayesh Ranjan from key urban administration responsibilities to the Environment, Forests, Science and Technology Department.
The orders were issued by Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on October 28. The reshuffle comes a day after reports emerged that Jayesh Ranjan was considering voluntary retirement amid speculation about differences with the government.
Jayesh Ranjan Loses Key Urban Development Responsibilities
Jayesh Ranjan has been appointed Special Chief Secretary of the Environment, Forests, Science and Technology Department. He has been relieved of his responsibilities related to urban development under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).
He has also been relieved of the additional charge of the Sports Department. His responsibilities as Special Officer for the GHMC, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri municipal corporations have also been withdrawn.
The timing of the transfer has drawn attention because of reports about his possible early retirement. The government has not officially confirmed any link between the reshuffle and those reports.
Key IAS Transfers and New Postings
Several other senior officers have received new assignments as part of the administrative changes.
Vikas Raj: Special Chief Secretary of the Energy Department.
A. Vani Prasad: Sports Department.
Navin Mittal: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Rural Water Supply and related administrative responsibilities.
Shailaja Ramaiyer: Revenue Department, including Endowments.

Administrative Changes Draw Attention
The reshuffle covers several important departments, including energy, transport, revenue, health, sports and municipal administration. Jayesh Ranjan’s transfer has emerged as one of the most closely watched changes because of his earlier responsibilities in Hyderabad’s urban development administration. The latest appointments are expected to shape the functioning of key departments across Telangana.
