Creature Commandos

While most people await the reboot of James Gunn’s DC Cinematic Universe with the new Superman film, we must not forget that the actual kickoff of the DCU will be James Gunn’s Creature Commandos. The Annecy International Animation Film Festival saw the announcement of a release window for the same.

James Gunn also gave us the insight that we can expect the characters of Creature Commando to make an appearance in the live-action Superman movie. This is the first time a character will make the jump from animated to live action. We have seen the transition go the other way around with the MCU’s “What If” series.

With an impressive voice cast including Frank Grillo, Anya Chalotra, Sean Gunn, and David Harbour, we can expect a terrific start to the DCU. This is also a very unorthodox approach with the introduction of a new universe with an animated project that will be available to only MAX subscribers. It makes us wonder how this decision might pan out in the grand scheme of things. Creature Commandos will have its release in November this year, followed by the Superman movie set to release in 2025.
