Despite Bad Reviews, Avatar Scores Great Views

Avatar The Last Airbender

The live adaptation of successful series is always a double-edged sword. On one hand, you gain a huge fan base supporting your promotional campaign, while on the other hand, you must be ready to face significant backlash if the show does not meet the standards. “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” an American animated show loved by people since its 2005 release, has gained widespread acclaim over the years. Now, as the series is adapted into a Netflix series, immense hype was generated around the show.

However, upon the movie’s release, it is receiving poor reviews from both fans and critics. People are calling it an awful adaptation, citing its lack of the goofiness that was a beloved theme in the original animated show. Even it’s live action movie starring Dev Patel was better than this show. The action sequences feel realistic, and the one thing that still feels promising about this new series is the performances, making it worthwhile despite the characters being one-dimensional.

Interestingly, the series is being directly compared with the “One Piece” live adaptation, which, while not better than the anime, was considered a great attempt. “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is facing criticism for not meeting the standards, but its huge fan base has propelled it to success, garnering more than 21 million views within just four days of its release—15% more viewership than the “One Piece” live adaptation.

Feel free to share your thoughts if you have seen either the animated show or the new series.
