Vivek Agnihotri, the visionary director who created the blockbuster movie “The Kashmir Files,” recently released another film centered on India’s social issues. The movie focused on the challenges faced by scientists during the COVID-19 pandemic in their quest to develop a vaccine.
Anticipation was high that this film would follow in the footsteps of “The Kashmir Files” and become another surprise hit. However, it ultimately turned out to be a box office disaster, failing to gain recognition among the masses. The movie is set to release on Hotstar for its digital premiere.
While the film received praise for its authentic portrayal of the subject matter and its thought-provoking narrative, it struggled to attract audiences. There could be several reasons for this. Comparing it to the success of Agnihotri’s previous movie, it’s worth noting that “The Kashmir Files” did not become an instant hit. The movie delved into a contentious topic that divided audiences – some hated it for its perceived propaganda, while others loved it for its accurate representation.
The missing element in “Vaccine War” might be the extreme shock factor present in “The Kashmir Files” which dealt with a highly controversial topic that stirred strong opinions among viewers. In contrast, “Vaccine War” focused on finding hope amid the global challenges faced during the pandemic, and it didn’t elicit polarizing opinions.
Consequently, the film struggled to surpass a lifetime collection of 10 crore at the box office. Nevertheless, if you’re interested in watching the movie starring Nana Patekar and Anupam Kher, it is scheduled to premiere on November 24th exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.
