A movie that came out last month, barely noticed by the masses initially, later garnered praise through word of mouth was “Lapata Ladies”. With an interesting trailer that made some waves but failed to attract a big chunk of the audience to theaters.
The movie was backed by Kiran Rao, the woman behind movies like “Dhobi Ghat”, “Peepli Live”, and “Secret Superstar”. Though it was a box office success, it still needs to cater to more of the public, as it deserves more.
Newlywed Deepak is traveling with his wife on a train journey where there are many newlywed couples. The movie is about two young ladies who get lost on a train, and thus begins an interesting journey of mistaken identity. The movie stars new faces Nitashi Goel, Sparsh Srivastava, and Sneha Desai in lead roles, presenting us with performances that don’t feel new.
The story works fine with its crazy screenplay. The dialogues are good and carry the essence of rural India. The movie hits you in the right spot.
If you missed it in theaters, the makers have planned to release it on Netflix. You will be able to stream it starting midnight. Plan your weekend accordingly.
