The epic story of Ramayana is a tale that resonates with a population of billions and it is a humongous task to translate it into a visual representation when expectations are going to be sky high. The trailer for season 4 of The Legend of Hanuman just dropped and it seems to hit quite a few notes perfectly. Though not completely immune to error, the 3d animated series “The Legend of Hanuman” which primarily covers the base story of Ramayana, has portrayed the rich and complex characters of this epic with the conviction it requires.
In the trailer, we get to see glimpses of one of the most famous battles of Ramayana, which takes place between Kumbhakarna and Hanuman. The wraith and pure strength of Kumbhakarna and the forgotten powers of Hanuman, which will prevail? This is the key moment the trailer highlights the most.
The recent attempts to portray the story of Ramayana on-screen have been disappointing, to say the least. The likes of Adipurush have left a bad taste in the mouths of millions of fans of this epic and the task is not easy as whatever comes next will be compared to the “OG” TV series “Ramayan” which aired in 1987 and the animated series “Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama” as they succeeded in portraying the complex and layered characters while staying true to the original material.
The 3D animated series “The Legend of Hanuman” succeeds in creating a good impression with the amazing and talented cast it holds. With Sharad Kelkar voicing the antagonist Ravan as well as the narrator, Daman Baggan voicing Hanuman, and Sanket Mhatre portraying Lord Ram, the characters feel real, layered, and close to what the audience expects. Though the animation quality and art style have room for improvement, it is the storytelling where this series shines the most. The season 4 trailer seems promising and hopefully, it will hold the consistency in its’ writing throughout the series.
