The highly anticipated release of Christopher Nolan’s critically acclaimed thriller Oppenheimer, which stars Cillian Murphy in the main role, on the over-the-top platform Jio Cinema is scheduled for March 21. The movie was under the ‘Coming Soon’ section of the site.
The biographical movie is the most nominated film of the year with 13 nominations for the 96th Academy Awards. It won seven prizes at the most recent BAFTA Film Awards in London, and it was recognized in eight categories at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards. Oppenheimer took home five of his eight nominations during the Golden Globes.
The biography of American theoretical physicist Robert Oppenheimer, known as the “father of the atomic bomb,” and his involvement in the Manhattan Project during World War II serve as the inspiration for Oppenheimer. It has been said that Oppenheimer oversaw the Los Alamos Laboratory, which was responsible for building bombs.
In the picture, Cillian Murphy plays the title role, his first main role in a Nolan production. He previously starred in several of the director’s films, including Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception, and Dunkirk. In addition to Cilian, Oppenheimer stars Kenneth Branagh, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Gary Oldman, and Rami Malek.
Released in July of last year with Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, Oppenheimer received overwhelming critical and financial praise, making history as the highest-grossing biopic with a global box office total of over $950 million.
