After numerous delays, the trailer for “Maidaan” has finally been released. The movie has been in the making since 2022, and judging from the trailer, the wait appears to have been worthwhile.
“Maidaan” depicts the era when India was striving to stand on its own feet after gaining independence, even as half of the world had not recognized it as a nation. During this time, people dreamed of India achieving glory through football, offering a glimpse into the emotional journey of Syed Abdul Rahim, the coach of the Indian football team.
The film draws similarities with Akshay Kumar’s “Gold,” which also centered around India’s first international football win as an independent nation. Directed by Reema Kagti, “Gold” received mixed reviews but performed well at the box office. Interestingly, this Ajay Devgn film is set to face competition with another Akshay Kumar movie titled “Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan.”
