Pankaj Tripathi is a prime example of a character artist so intimidating that he can easily overshadow the leads. We see examples in movies like “Gunjan Saxena.” The recently released trailer for “Murder Mubarak” also aligns with this theme.
There are numerous characters, but one who doesn’t escape your attention even after the trailer ends is Bhavani Singh, played by Pankaj Tripathi. He’s an ACP given the case of a murder mystery in a royal family.
The needle of doubt can point towards anyone, be it Sara Ali Khan, Sanjay Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Tisca Chopra, or others. The 2 minutes and 52 seconds trailer paints a picture of a family where nobody seems worried about the recent murder that took place in the same house.
The background music works fine, provides much-needed tension for a movie like this keeping the mystery alive. People in the movie are hilariously chaotic, however it feels like the story is filled with too many characters, adding very little collectively. Pankaj Tripathi has given his iconic Sattu Bhaiya touch to Bhavani Singh, which seems quite entertaining. Other than him, no one seems impressive, at least from the trailer. Perhaps a better-edited trailer would have worked well.
Nevertheless, “Murder Mubarak,” directed by Homi Adajania, releases on March 15, exclusively on Netflix. Watch the trailer and share your thoughts with us.
