The Tamil web series Nadu Centre, starring Vijay Sethupathi’s son Suriya Sethupathi and Surya SK and directed by Naru Narayanan, started streaming on the JioHotstar platform on November 20th.
Despite the very average trailer, some viewers had hopes because actors like Sasikumar, Kalaiyarasan and Regina Cassandra played key roles. This made them believe the series could be a surprise hit with something special to offer.
However, early viewers are sharing average responses. Many feel Tamil directors should rethink making web series, since very few Tamil OTT projects have succeeded. They say most filmmakers struggle to understand OTT audience tastes.
Adding to this, many are criticising JioHotstar for its release strategy. Only the first three episodes have been released, which viewers feel is a poor decision.
They argue that since Nadu Centre is not a suspense-driven show, many people will forget about it after watching the first three episodes and may not return when the remaining 14 episodes release.
With such mixed and average responses for the first three episodes, it remains to be seen how Nadu Centre performs in the coming days and whether the upcoming episodes will impress viewers and receive positive reactions.
