Digital streaming giant Netflix is all set to drop one of its biggest acquisitions till date in the form of Pushpa 2. It is more or less confirmed that the film will be made available for streaming on their platform from January 30 in multiple Indian languages.
Needless to say, Pushpa 2 is one of the costliest acquisitions of Netflix, if not the costliest till date and there’s a lot riding on it.

The first part was sensation on Amazon prime video, and that could garner humongous attention and a super wide reach. It was a smashing success to the degree that it almost single-handedly cultivated a massive market for the franchise in Hindi, which was evident if we look at the performance of the second part in Hindi.
Now, Netflix will be hoping that they will also get to experience something of this sort with the sequel. The digital streaming giant expectedly shelled out a lot of money for the same.

Earlier, in the case of the first part, the lockdown situation and the subsequent work from home culture directly contributed to huge number of views. But in the case of the second part, there will be no such direct advantage.
Moreover, the film was watched by almost all of its target audience in the theatre itself. So it should be really interesting to see if the film can actually create a mad rush again on OTT as it looks set for debut on Netflix.

Netflix had earlier tested tremendous success with RRR, Animal and Salaar all of which had Telugu lineage. In the recent past, the OTT platform could not experience a significant hit that worked so very well for them. So this will increase the stakes on Pushpa 2 that much more.
It can also be noted that the stage could be perhaps laid for Pushpa 3 if the second part works brilliantly on OTT much like the first part. If the film gets increased reach on OTT and create some absolute havoc on Netflix, it could perhaps instigate the makers to expedite the third part based on feasibility.
