This financial success is mirrored in the platform’s viewership numbers, which have grown by 30% in total viewing hours.

Netflix’s success in India can be credited to its diverse content library that resonates with the audience. The streaming giant’s ad-supported plan now boasts 40 million global monthly active users.

As of May 21, 2024, the most viewed Indian films on Netflix showcase a mix of action, drama, and intriguing narratives:

1. Fighter – 14 million views
2. Laapataa Ladies – 13.8 million views
3. Animal – 13.6 million views
4. Shaitaan – 13 million views
5. Dunki – 10.8 million views
6. Bhakshak – 10.4 million views
7. Murder Mubarak – 6.3 million views
8. Article 370 – 5.8 million views
9. Amar Singh Chamkila – 5.3 million views
10. Guntur Kaaram – 4.9 million views

Bollywood dominates the list entirely, with Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram being the only exception. Tillu Square was also released on Netflix recently and numbers relating to its performance on OTT haven’t been released yet.
