One of the few things that got us through covid, and lockdown, has to be the popular K-Drama – “Squid Game”.Netflix has now released Squid Game: The Challenge” and it has certainly made quite the buzz, much alike like its predecessor.
“Squid Game: The Challenge” was expected to become a maestro in the world of reality television, offering the viewers a fresh view of their beloved K-Drama with real people participating in it and by no means are they going to be “acting”.
The concept had been tried once before by the popular youtuber “Mr. Beast” with his video having garnered well over 500 million views, a staggering high number and with the production now in the hands of Netflix, the stage only got bigger.
However, since its release the show hasn’t gone well with the fans. With a high number of audience eagerly anticipating the show’s release, the moment has sadly fallen well short of their expectations.
Since the show’s release the internet has flooded with reactions and reviews and they’ve sadly, mostly been negative. The fans accused the show of being ‘unnecessarily goofy’ and failing to create the tense atmosphere of the original show. The audiences are seen taking the show as a normal game show and not a place where they have to fight sweat and blood.
People expressed their disappointment by asking Netflix to never try this again and instead give them a season 2 of the original series.
