Salman Khan The Great Indian Kapil Show

The season three of “The Great Indian Kapil Show” premiered with Salman Khan as the guest, but instead of giving the audience the laughter and joy it usually gives it left the fans uncomfortable and uneasy.

What should have been a comedy show was actually filled with sexism and misplaced bravado. From sharp remarks to Aamir Khan’s personal life to a tone-deaf joke about a friend becoming a gynecologist for female attention, the episode was packed with locker room humour.

What’s more gut wrenching is how casually they made all these remarks. During a supposedly 3am talk in Salman Khan’s farmhouse, Kapil Sharma the most beloved host laughed over remarks which are basically rooted in misogyny.

We have to keep it in mind that these are fully grown men into their 40s and 60s using their primetime and limelight to normalize things which are morally problematic.

The most unsettling moment came when Salman Khan took a direct swipe at his brother Sohail Khan’s ex-wife, Seema Sajdeh, stating, “Woh bhi bhag gayi.” This is right to the core assassination of a woman’s dignity, one can’t misuse their fame and influence to throw shades at other women on national television.

This whole incident is very disheartening and we can’t expect all these things from influential figures in 2025. They need to understand that audience have changed with time and with that they need to change their module as well.
