The trailer for The Penguin is out for the audience. The second chapter of Matt Reeves’ The Batman Universe is ready to release in September of this year, and Collin Farrell is ready to bring the Penguin’s menacing character to life on a scale bigger than ever before. The trailer shows us the aftermath of the Riddler’s attack on Gotham City. The flooded city will see a power vacuum in the wake of the death of Carmine Falcone. Which begs the question: Where is Batman?
The series is going to be divided into eight episodes, which will explore the underground mob culture of Matt Reeves Gotham. The yellowish tone throughout the trailer has already given it a very Sopranos-esque feel. The race to become the new Kingpin of Gotham is on, and we can see Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin, getting rid of the competition. Collin has given us the best interpretation of character. We must say that he has nailed the role down to the iconic waddle the penguin is known for. The series heavily draws inspiration from the “Long Halloween” comic event, which already has an animated adaptation, which of course has Batman.

Here we have a flooded Gotham with gangs running the streets, trying to fill the power vacuum after Falcone’s death. Now, as the right-hand man of the deceased mob boss, Penguin wants his right to take over, but Falcone’s family is ready to take him out. It is to be speculated whether we will see Batman in the series; however, the Bat’s appearance does make sense with all the havoc Gotham is experiencing. There is also the confirmed appearance of Salvatore Maroni, played by Clancy Brown, who was the person who threw acid on TwoFace. Perhaps we can expect the appearance of the D.A. Harvey Dent. The series will be released exclusively on Max and will start with the next chapter, Batman: Part II.
