This subscription model has caused huge uproar among Indian users. The platform had already been facing a lot of criticism because of its rental policy. Most movies on the platform are there to be rented and subscribers are already very frustrated.
People wanted to shift to OTT because they wanted a break from the advertisements of the Television Model. But now almost all the OTT platforms are running ads between contents and now that Prime Video is also introducing an advertising policy, it is really disappointing.

With high prices like this, students and young users will opt out from the subscriptions and there will be a higher tendency of resorting to piracy. Indian subscribers are angered with this decision and to add to it, people are dissatisfied with Prime’s recent content slate as well.
The platform will have to come up with some new plan if it intends to stop infuriating the customers and satisfy them with a more feasible plan.
