When Neeraj Pandey started his journey with the long-format space with “Special Ops”, it felt like it was much needed for a director who is well known for his gripping thrillers.
Season 1 of “Special Ops” was a big time hit with a fantastic backstory, high action, and a conclusion which stayed with the fans.
Naturally, expectations were very high for Season 2. But now that the season has dropped, the real conversation around it has started.
Well yes! “Special Ops Season 2” does dive deeper into Himmat Singh’s past, and Kay Kay Menon with his fantastic acting is a treat to watch.
But somewhere between exploring the new cyber world and the expansion of the story, viewers feel like Neeraj Pandey forgot to tie up the loose ends for this season.
Neeraj Pandey had the advantage of long-format storytelling this time which worked in his favor last time. But this time it feels like the storyline was much rushed, constantly adding information without a legitimate standpoint.
What’s bothering many viewers is the rushed ending.
Unlike Season 1’s satisfying and impactful conclusion, Season 2 leaves a lot unsaid and unresolved.
The climax felt like a sudden discovery which just dropped, rather than a well established ending.
It is making the viewers wonder if the creators were trying to tick boxes instead of building the moment.
It’s still a decent watch, engaging as well, with strong character build up.
But when you raise the bar with Season 1, you owe your audience a bit more.
