The Stranger Things universe is expanding once again, this time with an animated series. Netflix has revealed character posters for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85. The announcement also introduced a new character who is expected to bring fresh energy to Hawkins.
Set between Seasons 2 and 3 of the original show, the story unfolds during the winter of 1985. The core group returns, but the series promises new twists and paranormal threats. Another mystery will test the bond of the young friends.
The major addition is Nikki Baxter, a pink haired transfer student voiced by Odessa A’zion. Known for Marty Supreme, A’zion describes Nikki as super punk rock. The character is said to act as the barbarian and protector within the group.
According to Netflix Tudum, Nikki has spent much of her life moving frequently and feeling isolated. Her arrival in Hawkins marks the first time she experiences true friendship. Her presence is positioned as an important addition to the party’s evolving dynamic.
Showrunner Eric Robles shared that Nikki enters the story with personal struggles of her own. The existing group finds itself drawn into her world in unexpected ways. The series is executive produced by Matt and Ross Duffer, with Brooklyn Davey Norstedt voicing Eleven and Luca Diaz as Mike.
The official logline hints at a harsh winter backdrop, new monsters and an epic mystery. Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 will premiere on Netflix on April 23, opening a new chapter for the franchise.
