When Suicide Squad: Isekai was announced, it was considered a new leap in the animation arena by DC. Now the project finally has a release date, and fans are as excited as ever. Even though Batman Ninja is there, the Suicide Squad anime is probably the first time an anime trope is involved and woven into the story of a DC project. The isekai genre takes place in an alternate universe where the protagonist is transported and now has to find their way back. DC characters are perfect for this, as the DC multiverse often allows the characters to move in and out of the universes. Thus facilitating the said isekai plot.

This time, however, it’s a race against time. The characters have only 72 hours before the bombs in their heads go off. The Suicide Squad anime has a very colorful roster, including Harley Quinn, Joker, King Shark, Deadshot, Rick Flag, Katana, Peacemaker, and Clayface. The studio working on the project, WIT, is known for its exceptional work on anime like Spy X Family and Attack on Titan. The anime thus seems promising.

The Suicide Squad Isekai will be released on July 5, 2024. The initial trailers advertised the show being aired on Amazon Prime. Hulu happens to be another name currently in the running for streaming of the show. Since this is a DC project, there’s a possibility that Max is where the show will finally end up. It is indeed a very enthusiastic project after its initial airing on Japanese streaming platforms.
