After seven seasons and 141 episodes, Amanzon Prime Video’s Young Sheldon, a comic predecessor to “The Big Bang Theory,” bids farewell to its final two chapters this Thursday.
In the series finale, it was stated that Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik, two alumni, would make an appearance and that Sheldon’s father George (Iain Armitage) had passed away in an off-screen episode.
Still, the episodes included Easter eggs and surprises. Executive producer Steve Holland compliments the actors on their dramatic skills in the opening episode of the series, “Funeral,” which is the heaviest and most dramatic of the run.
The programme also had to deal with deciding how much of George’s coffin to display and negotiating Reba McEntire’s cameo. The “Young Sheldon” series faced challenges in the final episode, “Memoir,” which included Sheldon’s final days before heading to Caltech and the highly anticipated appearance of Parsons and Bialik. Their part of the episode gave shape to the entire series.
The original script was not that good but had more jokes than ended up, which felt tone deaf for the seriousness of the moment. The episode fine-tuned the balance to allow the audience to feel genuine grief for a few minutes, allowing them to feel the loss and loss of their family.
