Horror comedy is a genre with a huge audience pull, as it can easily attract people from different genres combined and still provide an entertaining experience. However, it also acts as a double-edged sword and can easily become a sloppy movie if the subject is not handled well. On one hand, we have great horror comedies like “Stree” and “Bhool Bhulaiyaa,” while on the other hand, we have movies like “Bhoot Police” and “Roohi,” which couldn’t get anything right. Neither the comedy worked, nor did the horror.
“Aranmanai 4” is yet another sequel of the popular Tamil horror comedy franchise that has been entertaining fans since 2014, when its first part was released.
It is about a priest whose daughter gets killed by a demon. The demon later takes the form of the daughter while the priest is trying to protect his family from this trouble. The movie is a perfect blend of horror and comedy. There are scenes that can chill your spine, and there are scenes that can leave you in splits.
When released in theaters, the movie received good reviews and went on to collect around 100 crores, making it the highest-grossing movie of the franchise. “Aranmanai 4,” starring Tamannaah Bhatia, Raashii Khanna, Ramachandra Raju, and more, is set to premiere on June 21 exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.
