David Fincher’s new film ‘The Killer’ is all set to stream on Netflix. David, being a craftsman when it comes to cinema, and amongst the finest in them offers impeccably shot scenes and meticulously crafted plots and his latest title is no alien to this talent of his, being one of the chief reasons why it carries with it high hopes of being the next Netflix hit.
Despite a brief run on the big screens, ‘The Killer’ was well received by audience and critiques alike. Adapted from a French graphic novel series of the same name by Alexis “Matz” Nolent, the movie is an honest adaptation of the popular work and will be releasing on Netflix this Friday the 10th.
Fitcher’s new film has the stylistic flourishes of French-language crime classics without the moral undertow of such films and as stated in Netflix’s synopsis for the film “Solitary, cold, methodical and unencumbered by scruples or regrets, a killer waits in the shadows, watching for his next target. Yet, the longer he waits, the more he thinks he’s losing his mind, if not his cool” the movie is going to be a must watch for all the thriller enthusiasts out there.
This is David’s 7th thriller, and he is widely considered a master of his craft which is rightly justified by titles like Se7en and Gone Girl being listed under his name. This movie is no disappointment to Fitcher’s name as for the entirety of it you’re guaranteed to be glued to your screens, swept in as the plot unfolds and get mesmerized by his beautiful transitions and cinematography. The Killer maintains a morbid fascination all the way until its denouement. Fincher’s talent for staging, storytelling rhythm, and haunting visuals are sure to offer a ride worth remembering.
This brings us to our conclusion to the question of whether you should watch it or not? Yes, you should, if not for the plot, then definitely for the beautiful cinematography that is found in the movie which is getting rarer and rarer by the day. And if that’s not enough to catch your attention then the fact that the movie has Hollywood Icon Michael Fassbender in the role of the protagonist surely will.
