Remember the 80’s cult classic Road House? Well if you thought that was a big hit, hold on to your chairs while I tell you about its 2024 modern adaptation “Road House (2024)”. Released on March 21, 2024 , Jake Gyllenhaal and Doug Liman’s Road House has become a massive streaming hit on Prime Video.
The creators of the movie initially had their reservations about the Amazon original release, with Director Doug Liman initially disappointed about Road House not getting a theatrical release, and initially even declining to attend the SXSW premiere. But all doubts were dismissed when Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM studios confirmed that with a viewership of over 50 million on Amazon Prime Video within its first 2 weekends, the Amazon Original MGM production film shot on IMAX cameras has set a new record, surpassing the viewership of any original movie the production house has produced.
Led by the phenomenal Jake Gyllenhaal, the world is absolutely loving this entertaining, action-packed ride anchored by the performances of Jake, Conor McGregor, Daniela Melchior, Darren Barnet, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Lukas Gage, Arturo Castro, JD Pardo, and the rest of its stellar cast. It’s great to see the film taking off with both fans of the iconic original as well as a huge turnout from new audiences. The story involves around an ex-UFC middleweight fighter who ends up working at a rowdy bar in the Florida Keys where things are not as they seem.
