In a very unprecedented turn of events, the theatrical run for two recent releases have been extended. These movies were supposed to come out on OTT within a four week window but after the extraordinary success of the films, the OTT premiere has been delayed now.
These two movies are Mohanlal’s recent release ‘Thudarum’ and the Tamil drama ‘Tourist Family’.
‘Thudarum’ had its theatrical release on APril 25th and it was supposed to come out on OTT on May 21. ‘Tourist Family’ got out on May 1st and was about to stream on May 28 according to schedule.
It is great news that these movies are working out so well that the makers are having to extend the theatrical run. It does not happen very often. Mostly the movies do not work this long in theaters.
Mohanlal needed the success of ‘Thudarum’ after the underwhelming success of ‘Empuraan’. And ‘Tourist Family’ being a small budget film is doing so well in theaters, it is very interesting too.
Both the films will probably release on OTT in the first week of June. With this hype, the movies will work very well on OTT as well and gather a good number of views.
