Indian 2 is tentatively planned to release on July 12, and the team has started to do the promotional events for the movie. After Indian 2, Tamil cinema is set to conquer Indian cinema with its back-to-back biggies.
Last year was a golden year for Tamil cinema, as biggies such as Jailer and Leo were released and garnered a huge collection. In the same case, small films such as Good Night, Dada, and Por Thozhil have acquired lots of attention. But compared with last year, Tamil cinema is dull so far as Captain Miller and Ayalaan started the race of this year in Pongal. Both movies have received mixed reviews and don’t do well at the box office. Sundar C’s Aranmanai-4 and Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja were the only considerable hits of the year.
This scenario is going to be changed as after Indian 2, Dhanush’s 50th film Raayan is going to be released on July 26th, which has huge expectations as he himself is directing his 50th film, Chiyaan Vikram’s Thangalaan under Pa Ranjith’s direction, which is planned to release on August 15th, and Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time is going to be released on September 5th. This film has huge expectations, as this is going to be his second last film before his political entry. Suriya’s Kanguva will be released on October 10.
This is one of the most anticipated movies in Kollywood, as this film was made with a budget of around 400 crores, and its stunning visuals in the teaser created a huge amount of hype. On the same day, October 10th, Rajinikanth’s Pan-Indian Vettaiyan movie clashes with Kanguva. As of now, these are the confirmed movies with their release dates. Other than this, there were speculations that Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi was planning to be released by December, and Mani Rathnam and Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life were also planning to be released in December.
The second half of 2024 is going to be a blast for Tamil cinema audiences, and the above-mentioned movies were pan-Indian movies, so it is going to be Tamil cinema’s brutal dominance over Indian cinema.
