Witcher Author Confirms Netflix’s Negligence Towards Writers

Andrzej Sapkowski

Netflix, time and again, has presented instances where people discussed the toxic atmosphere within the company. From mistreatment to practically canceling shows without prior information, Netflix is indeed not the most amicable workplace. A recent incident from “The Witcher” adds weight to ongoing allegations.

Andrzej Sapkowski, the writer of the original novel series and also associated as a writer for the show, published a statement causing a stir among fans. During his presence at Comic-con, he faced several questions.

Sapkowski stated he possibly shared ideas with Netflix for “The Witcher” but claimed they disregarded his input with a dismissive attitude. He mimicked a Netflix executive belittling him, emphasizing their lack of receptiveness, expressing frustration with a laughter-infused remark.

So, if you have doubts regarding the decline in the show’s quality, here’s one reason behind it. Though it is drawing numbers, the departure of Cavill will cause more damage, and when paired with some bad storytelling, the show will likely lose its glorious armor.

A similar effect was seen in “Game of Thrones.” The earlier shows were stunning television and were solely written by George RR Martin, but as more minds were added to the task, the quality fell, and it became very much visible.
