Wow! Marvel Won’t Force You to Watch Everything!

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Imagine investing a decade into the build-up of a series, only for it to become too fragmented among the different media for you to keep up. Well, firstly, you’d go distant, and then it’d be too much of a hassle to continue.

Marvel fans are going through the same dilemma. To continue with your favorite film series, you are expected to watch a number of shows that have an entirely different format. No wonder fatigue sets in. This, however, won’t be in favor of the studio, so Marvel is making it easier for you to jump into your favorite movie even if you aren’t up-to-date with Marvel lore. As per the comment of Marvel Studios Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation Brad Winderbaum, “We want to make sure that Marvel stays an open door for people to come in and explore… You can jump in anywhere. They’re interconnected, but they’re not. You don’t have to watch A to enjoy B.”

In the past, there had been conflicts over whether the Netflix Marvel projects were part of the MCU or not. Still, they provided relief from the strict adherence to the MCU Canon. At the same time, they were completely optional. Perhaps Marvel is moving on the same track with the upcoming series. Agatha: House of Harkness and Daredevil: Born Again might not be necessary to watch to understand Avengers 5.

However, recently, the Marvel TV IPs are doing arguably better than the movies. It is to be seen whether this step would come off as favorable for the studio or not.
