Just like Prime Video, Netflix, and JioHotstar, ZEE5 is also not stepping back when it comes to grabbing the attention of the audience. The streaming platform has announced a lineup of films, scheduled to arrive between 2026 and 2027.
The first on the list is Baap. It marks the reunion of the ‘90s action superstars, which includes Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, and Mithun Chakraborty. The movie has been delayed for multiple reasons, and it is directed by Vivek Singh Chauhan.
Omung Kumar is also returning to direction after a long gap with Silaa. Although a lot of details about the main plot remain unknown, Harshvardhan Rane, Sadia Khateeb, and Karanveer Mehra are playing important roles in the film.
After The Kerala Story 2, Kamakhya Narayan Singh is bringing a new film, Shri Ram Bhoomi. Veteran actor Anupam Kher is one of the leads here, along with Ritwik Bhowmik and Amruta Khanvilkar. Next is Richa Chadha’s Delhi 2021, directed by Abhishek Acharya.
Audiences will also get to see Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a solo film after a long time, titled Blind Babu. The movie has been directed by Ravi Varma. Then there is Sangeeth Sivan’s Blind Game, featuring Arjun Rampal and Priyamani. Anik Kapoor’s production company is also bringing a film titled Paaltu.
Apart from all these, there are other titles like Tom and Cherry, Indraputra, Maan, Jogai, Kanakadurga, Jhep, Phulwara, Anasuya General Stores, and more. The OTT release platforms of some theatrical releases like Vidudala, Hi, and NBK111 have also been confirmed in the latest announcement by ZEE5.
Although audiences have shown their excitement, a few questioned the decisions of some producers opting for a direct to OTT release instead of bringing their films to the theatres. However, some stated that it is the right decision since most of the films in the list have been delayed or feature outdated topics that won’t work on the big screen anymore.
As of now, the entire industry is eagerly waiting to see which one of the upcoming releases will leave the biggest impact in terms of leaving a positive impression with its content.
