The ongoing problems between Dinesh Vijan and PVR Inox related to the release of Bhool Chuk Maaf have witnessed a new development. An insider has claimed that the film might receive a release on OTT on June 6, 2025.
A source alleged that Dinesh was ready to fight until the end after PVR Inox sued Maddock Films for cancelling the movie’s release in theatres. Dinesh was prepared to approach the Supreme Court in case the matters were not resolved at the High Court.
Looking at Dinesh’s courage to continue fighting, PVR Inox decided to meet and settle the issue, and Dinesh initially requested a simultaneous release in theatres and OTT. While PVR Inox did not agree to the same, both sides decided to bring the film to theatres at first and then go for OTT in two weeks.
Although the ongoing matter has been resolved, the decision of an OTT release in two weeks is also leading to criticism from exhibitors. Instead of that, both sides could have agreed to a direct release on OTT.
At a time when superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan are requesting to open more theatres, the decision taken for Bhool Chuk Maaf might force other producers to consider an OTT release in only two weeks after a film’s arrival in theatres.
People are hardly interested to visit theatres nowadays and the two-week window of OTT release might lead to problems for big screens in the upcoming years. There might be a situation where certain theatres have to be closed down for zero audience.
Meanwhile, a court order related to the release of Bhool Chuk Maaf in two weeks on OTT is yet to be made official and exhibitors are expecting a sensible decision to come out that will help theatres to survive at a time when films are not working at the box office.
