Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan has opened to a disappointing start at the box office, earning an estimated ₹35–40 lakh on its first day.
This marks one of the weakest openings of 2025 for both Vikrant Massey and debutante Shanaya Kapoor.
Despite considerable pre-release attention thanks largely to Shanaya’s much-hyped debut and Vikrant’s recent critical acclaim the film has struggled to draw audiences, with occupancy rates remaining below 10% throughout the day.
Audience reactions have been largely unfavorable.
While Vikrant Massey’s performance has received some appreciation, many viewers felt the film lacked emotional depth and originality.
Shanaya Kapoor’s debut has come under particular scrutiny, with her performance described by many as underwhelming.
Overall, the film has been dismissed by a significant section of the audience as dull and forgettable.
The film, adapted from Ruskin Bond’s short story The Eyes Have It, aimed for a poetic and emotionally rich narrative but failed to make a strong impact.
Viewers and critics alike noted that the storytelling felt flat and unengaging.
Competing releases such as Maalik and Superman fared significantly better, both commercially and critically, further highlighting the shortcomings of Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan.
Though the film’s music and cinematography have earned some praise, these aspects weren’t enough to compensate for its weak script and lackluster execution.
In the end, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan seems to be yet another example of a film that promised much but failed to deliver, both in terms of content and audience connection.
