Bollywood follows trends and Chhava is making waves, so another big historical film, The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is in the works.
But is it just cashing in on the period drama trend or can it stand out? More importantly, can producer Sandeep Singh break his jinx of underwhelming films?
Not what you assume, this film wasn’t greenlit after Chhava’s success it was announced six months ago. Rishab Shetty as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Prasoon Joshi’s lyrics, Pritam’s music and it has all the right ingredients.
Rishab Shetty’s intense performances make him a good choice for the warrior but can the rest of the film match him?
This is where doubts creep in. Sandeep Singh’s producer track record is not encouraging. Films like Sarbjit, PM Narendra Modi, Bhoomi, Jhund, Atal have all tanked at the box office.
He’s tried everything—political biopics to sports dramas but success has eluded him. Can he finally deliver a hit or will this be another underwhelming film?
A historical epic needs more than just big namesit needs vision, authenticity and strong direction. We’ve seen both extremes Tanhaji and Bajirao Mastani nailed it, Samrat Prithviraj and Panipat failed despite good intentions.
Will The Pride of Bharat deliver a gripping experience or will it collapse under its own weight?
With 2027 release, there’s time to get things right. If done well, this could be a landmark historical film. But the shadow of past failures looms large.
Can The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj overcome its biggest weakness or is it doomed before it even begins? The answer will decide if this is truly The Pride of Bharat or just another forgettable attempt.
