Akshay Kumar is slowly going back to the position where he was a few years ago, delivering successful films frequently. The response towards Bhooth Bangla and Welcome to the Jungle has proved what audiences want from Akshay today, which is comedy and mass-appealing cinema.
Trade analyst, Atul Mohan, said that although Akshay has done movies on social issues, today people want to enjoy large-scale films, and his last two projects have delivered the same. Atul said that only such movies can help in the theatrical business and help everyone in the industry.
Girish Johar had a similar opinion, saying that serious films like Kesari Chapter 2 do not have a chance of leaving an impression with commercial elements.
Roopbani Cinema owner, Vishek Chauhan, said that an actor should do films that people want to enjoy in the present time instead of forcing something on them. Vishek said that this can make audiences sideline the actor. He stated that since horror comedy, intense love story, and action mass entertainers are working, the actors should serve them as required.
Trade expert Taran Adarsh specifically expressed his excitement for Akshay’s next, Haiwaan. Taran said that the film might do well, considering that it is a reunion of Akshay with Priyadarshan and Saif Ali Khan after a long time.
Netizens also agreed by saying that Akshay decided to stick to a particular genre for a very long time, following which viewers started rejecting him. While people agreed that Akshay’s performance was brilliant, audiences wanted to see something else from him.
Akshay’s fans have now advised him to start collaborating with directors who are experts in terms of comic capers, horror-comedy, or action mass entertainers. A few also stated that he can approach Dinesh Vijan to get a solo film for his character that was introduced in Stree 2.
The ongoing situation hints that Akshay has possibly understood what audiences are expecting from him. But the real question right now is whether Akshay will listen to everyone’s advice or take a different path once again.
