Alpha movie early reviews

The Hindi audience have the strange fascination with spy thrillers, and that is the reason why several films of this category has historically worked at the Hindi box office. Now there is a new addition to the list in the form of Alpha, which has Alia Bhatt in the lead role.

The film released in theatres worldwide today, July 3 and the early reactions have been anything, but positive or encouraging.

The early reviews for Alia Bhatt oriented thriller have been very dismal and deflating in nature. Almost every major review outlet has given a thumbs down for this film, and the early word of mouth is not positive either.

This is a new film from the Yashraj spy universe and great things were expected of it. The fact that Alia Bhatt had been fairly positive with regard to her film choices in the recent past, added to the credibility as well. However, none of this materialised in the end for the film.

It turns out to be that this has been one of the poorly rated spy films from Hindi cinema in recent times. So recovering the massive investment that has been put in motion for this film is going to be a pretty significant challenge at this point.

The film is currently selling around 7.5 K tickets per hour on BookMyShow and this is a right number for such a big budget film. But considering the weak review reviews and word of mouth, it should be a pretty stiff challenge to hold over the weekend.

The last time Hindi mainstream cinema attempted spy universe, they delivered War 2 and it didn’t go to plan. Now they are back on the job with Alpha and they appear to have failed miserably again.

It appears that this particular genre and category have saturated with Dhurandhar. As long as people expect such refined filmmaking and production quality like on the scale of Dhurandhar, the chances are that every other spy film will fall shot of the expectation.
