Alpha is finally set to release in theatres on July 3, 2026, after a long wait. Advance bookings have already opened, and the initial response has been modest compared to expectations.
According to online reports, national multiplex chains PVR Inox and Cinepolis have sold around 35,000 tickets in advance. While the figure is not considered strong for a film of this scale, trade experts believe it reflects the challenges faced by female-led films in securing a big opening.
Expectations remain high because the future of the YRF Spy Universe is under close watch. The franchise is looking to bounce back after War 2, while Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller Dhurandhar has already raised audience expectations by offering a different cinematic experience.
Despite the moderate advance bookings, the teaser and trailer have generated decent buzz. This has led some trade observers to believe that Alpha still has the potential to surprise at the box office if it receives positive word of mouth after release.
According to current trade estimates, Alpha will need around Rs. 200 crores to achieve blockbuster status. A collection between Rs. 125 crores and Rs. 175 crores or more would likely earn it a Hit or Super-Hit verdict, while around Rs. 110 crores would place it in the semi-hit category.
If the film collects below Rs. 40 crores, it is expected to be considered a disaster. Collections below Rs. 65 crores would result in a flop verdict, while up to Rs. 75 crores would place it in the below-average category. A total below Rs. 90 crores would likely result in an average verdict.
Early trade predictions suggest an opening day collection of around Rs. 7 to 8 crores. From there, the film’s performance will largely depend on audience reviews and word of mouth in the days following its release.
