Spider-Man Craze Signals Doomsday for Shah Rukh’s King?

Avengers Doomsday and King release clash

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is arriving in theatres worldwide on July 30, 2026. Advance bookings in India have been better than expected, hinting that the movie is supposed to take a big opening compared to other Hollywood releases of the ongoing year.

The positive response towards Spider-Man has now raised a lot of hope for MCU’s next entry, Avengers: Doomsday, which is releasing on December 18, 2026. But at the same time, it has raised concerns for another big release from Bollywood, King.

The promotions for Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film started in 2025 with the release date announcement and a video, featuring glimpses of the movie directed by Siddharth Anand. While trade experts and fans have already declared it a blockbuster, the release timing has now raised a lot of questions.

Avengers: Doomsday will mark the return of the original Avengers, and the same has been revealed in the trailer. Critics have stated that since the film is going to have a nostalgic value for MCU fans, there is a low possibility that people will show the same or bigger interest in King.

Most of the people have pointed out the gap between the films, which is only six days instead of a week or two. Some trade experts have already declared that this is not the right period to release the film since it will impact the business, even if the movie leaves a positive impression.

As of now, netizens have reacted by saying that SRK should prefer shifting the release to January 2027 since Avengers will complete its successful run by then and the King will not face a big competition.

On the other hand, a few others stated that the movie should arrive on the date that has already been finalized. They addressed the reasons, saying that King is a movie made for the masses, specifically the single-screen audience.

They said that while King will create records with its figures at the single screens, the same cannot be expected from Doomsday, which will find more audience at the multiplexes. Trade experts also agreed, saying that single-screen audiences are hardly interested in watching Hollywood films and those theatres are expected to get some good sales if the multiplex tickets are sold out.

While netizens have shared their suggestions, it is entirely up to SRK and the team working on King to decide if December 24 is the right date for them or whether they should postpone the movie. A final decision can be expected in the next few months.
