Amar Kaushik recently shared key updates about the growing Maddock Horror Comedy Universe during a media interaction. He confirmed that the team is shaping major projects and preparing the next phase of stories that aim to expand the MHCU in a big way.
Amar, known for driving the success of Stree and Bhediya, said he is now working on two crucial films. These films, Shakti Shalini with Aneet Padda and Mahavatar with Vicky Kaushal, will play important roles in the universe.
While discussing Shakti Shalini, Amar said the story holds a special place in the franchise. He said it was one of the earliest ideas formed when the MHCU started taking shape and continues to stay central to the universe’s direction.
He explained that Shakti Shalini brings a fresh character with layers the audience has not seen yet. The story carries mysteries, and you will enter a space that has remained largely unexplored in films so far.
Amar added that the team wanted a newcomer who matched the story’s freshness and depth. Aneet Padda impressed them during her long audition journey, and her work in Saiyaara showed only a slice of her ability.
He shared that Aneet kept auditioning before landing Saiyaara, and he and producer Dinesh Vijan felt an instant connection once they met her. During discussions, both of them often exchanged knowing looks, convinced she was right for the role.
On Mahavatar, Amar said he had wanted to collaborate with Vicky Kaushal for years. He praised Vicky for creating comfort on set and listening with intention before reacting, which he felt added honesty to any performance.
Amar said the mythological epic needed someone who looked pure, carried natural angst, and expressed depth through their eyes and words. All of this aligned with Vicky, whom he described as sincere in his work and his interactions.
He added that Vicky’s experience as an assistant director to Anurag Kashyap also aligned with the makers’ vision for Chiranjeevi Parashurama in Mahavatar and strengthened their belief in him for the role.
With Shakti Shalini and Mahavatar moving ahead, the MHCU continues to evolve and bring new stories to audiences. The universe is entering an ambitious phase with more layers and characters joining the narrative.
Reports also suggest that Alia Bhatt will enter the MHCU with a film titled Chamunda. This addition is expected to boost the franchise further and add more strength to its storytelling and on-screen presence.
With these major projects, Maddock aims to offer some of the most engaging mythological fictions of recent times and give you fresh stories from the expanding MHCU world.
