Biggest Comedy Franchise: Golmaal or Housefull?

Biggest Comedy Franchise Golmaal or Housefull

Akshay Kumar and the team are ready to take over the theatres with possibly the biggest comedy franchise in Bollywood, Housefull 5. However, looking at the numbers and comparing them with Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal might give different conclusions.

With Golmaal being another huge comedy franchise in the country, both the franchises have four installments so far, and looking at the footfalls combined from all four films, Golmaal stands at 5.55 Crore whereas Housefull stands at 5.5 Crores.

Having a neck-to-neck competition between each other, it is hard to say if any one franchise is the biggest comedy franchise in the entire country.

Looking at the performances and user reviews for the films in recent years, the Housefull franchise might have a weaker hold over Golmaal in terms of delivering comedy and having better plots.

As Housefull 5 rapidly approaches, a lot of anticipation is building around how the film will turn out in the cinemas. While it has a stellar and huge cast, Akshay’s weak form at the theatres is a huge con for the film.

With an average of 1.37 crore footfalls, the Housefull franchise once again needs to deliver over 1 Crore footfalls to secure its place in the 200 crore club.

Given Akshay Kumar’s rough patch at the box office, 1 crore footfalls seems like a tough task. Only time will tell if the film is able to deliver and have a decent outing at the box office.
