Aamir Khan is all over news and social media with his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par but he is going to take a very risky decision for the streaming of the movie.
Aamir has been very vocal about the post-theatrical OTT model of movies and now he is choosing to do something different from everyone else. Reportedly, Sitaare Zameen Par will be available for YouTube pay-per-view eight weeks after the theatrical release.

But the biggest threat for this will be piracy. It will be very difficult to keep the piracy of the movie in check if it comes on YouTube for a pay-per-view model.
The OTT platforms take strong measures against piracy but it will be easier to leak the movie from YouTube and it would have been better if Aamir were to release the movie on some platform like Netflix or Prime Video and it could have helped the movie for a better reach as well, like it happened for Laapata Ladies.

Aamir’s decision comes from his stance against the OTT model but it is indeed a very big risk and Aamir could have avoided it easily with a sureshot OTT success. Laal Singh Chaddha worked well on OTT despite being a remake and SZP would have gathered engagement on OTT irrespective of its box office collections.
