The ongoing issues of the country have brought Bollywood into the limelight. The silence of the celebrities, specifically in terms of speaking up against the PM of India, has raised a lot of questions, with a few even asking why they have so much fear.
Notably, a video of a conversation between Sreenivasan Jain and Mehdi Hasan has recently gone viral on social media. The former opened up in detail about why Bollywood has preferred to stay away from the ongoing problems in the country.
The video featured Sreenivasan saying that Bollywood stars are scared of the consequences if they speak up about the issues. He even referred to Shah Rukh Khan, saying that although the superstar has not been political, he has supported the government on various occasions.
The Aryan Khan case was used as an example, stating that it was considered a warning by many other popular faces, despite the fact that there was no proof to show that the matter was politically motivated. Sreenivasan said that the fear has expanded to cricketers, business leaders, and many other people.
He said that, as per critics, the action against Kunal Kamra’s property was a response to his criticism. He further stated that Aamir Khan had to face extreme backlash due to his intolerance comment, which was considered another warning.
Online users reacted by saying that Sreenivasan’s claims can be considered true. They stated that Bollywood stars continue living a normal life while the entire world deals with problems. However, they advised the stars to stop living in fear anymore because it is the public that is going to help them to stay on top, not the government.
None of the Bollywood stars has reacted to the viral clip so far. But it will be interesting to see how many of them are going to take a stand for the issues in the upcoming days.
