Superman Kiss Deleted, Rakul Skin Show OK? Hypocrisy

CBFC De De Pyaar De 2 UA 13+ controversy Ajay Devgn Rakul Preet

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is once again facing public criticism, this time over its rating for the upcoming film De De Pyaar De 2, which is set to release on November 14. The film, starring Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh, has received a UA 13+ certificate, sparking widespread debate among moviegoers.

Many viewers have pointed out that the romantic and revealing content seen in the film’s teaser, trailer, and songs appears far too mature for 13-year-olds. People are questioning the CBFC’s logic, asking how a film filled with adult humour and bold visuals can be deemed suitable for young teens. Critics have accused the board of double standards, pointing out that in the past, CBFC has made unnecessary cuts in films like Superman and Dhadak 2 over harmless kissing scenes or discussions around sensitive issues like caste.

The hypocrisy, many argue, lies in the fact that while the board removes content promoting emotional or social awareness, it seems to have no objection to sexually suggestive scenes in commercial entertainers. Several social media users have also hinted that favoritism and corruption within the certification process may be influencing such inconsistent decisions.

Film lovers say that censorship in India is often selective, guided more by banner names and industry influence than by genuine content evaluation. They believe that the CBFC must revisit its rating system, making it transparent and logical instead of biased.

The controversy surrounding De De Pyaar De 2 is just the latest example of how content moderation in Indian cinema continues to spark debate about fairness, hypocrisy, and creative freedom.
