Meghna Gulzar’s next film, Daayra, has locked its release date, and it is coming on September 18, 2026. The first look was recently revealed, hinting at an intense film that is supposed to leave an impression on the audience.
The upcoming film is inspired by real-life events and features Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran playing the lead roles. It even marks another collaboration between Meghna Gulzar and Junglee Pictures, the company that also worked on Talvar and Raazi.
Netizens have also reacted positively, saying that Daayra might turn out to be a surprise hit if the content is up to the mark. Meanwhile, trade experts have stated that this is also going to be a big test for Prithviraj before Varanasi, which hits the silver screens in 2027.
Varanasi is directed by S.S. Rajamouli. Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra are playing important roles in the film, and it will be dubbed and released in Hindi along with other languages.
Critics said that Daayra is a good opportunity for Prithviraj to grab some attention among the Hindi audience. They even stated that since Rajamouli’s last two films have recorded good collections in the North Indian market and because Prithviraj plays the main villain this time, his presence will pull audiences in Hindi if he can impress with his performance in Daayra.
