With the upcoming release of Singham Again, Deepika Padukone is set to make history as she aims to become the only Indian actress to achieve over 1000 crore net in box office earnings within a single year.
In 2024, she has already starred in Fighter and Kalki 2898 AD. While Fighter, directed by Siddharth Anand and featuring Hrithik Roshan, showcased their chemistry, it struggled at the box office, grossing 205 crores in India due to its high production costs.
However, Kalki 2898 AD proved to be a massive grosser, earning 650 crores net and ranking as the fourth highest-grossing Indian film. In this film, Deepika played the character Sumathi, earning decent reviews for her performance.
So far, her films in 2024 have collectively grossed approximately 855 crores. If Singham Again performs well and surpasses 145 crores net at the box office, Deepika will hit the remarkable milestone of 1000 crores in a year.
This film, directed by Rohit Shetty, marks her debut as a female cop in the franchise and is expected to be a blockbuster success with a minimum collection of 400 crores net in India, especially given the star-studded cast, which includes Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Ranveer Singh.
Singham Again is set to release on November 1, 2024, coinciding with Diwali, and will face competition from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
Deepika Padukone is on course to become the second actor after Shah Rukh Khan to score 1000 crore net in 12 months. SRK achieved over 1400 crores net in 2023 with his films Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki.
