Marathi musical romantic drama ‘Sairat’ went on to become a surprise blockbuster leaving the trade pundits in astonishment for the whopping business it did though it was made with a small budget. There was a talk that it would be remade in Telugu.

However, the documentary type of feel might not cater to the commercial prospects of the remake. Finally, Karan Johar is going to remake it in Hindi and yesteryear diva, Sridevi’s elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor will be essaying the female lead role and this will be her debut movie in Bollywood.
Another star hero’s brother Ishaan, brother of Shahid Kapoor is also going to be launched with this movie. The original is based on the love story between a higher caste and a lower caste youngsters. For Hindi, the love will be between a girl from a well-to-do family and the boy from a poor background.
The Telugu remake was shelved as many were highly doubtful as these kinds of films win only appreciation, not money. Let’s see how Karan Johar makes this film commercially viable?
